Sun Simulation · sun, shadows & surroundingsSee the real sun on any home, in 3D
Every building stands at its real height and casts its real shadow. Find out which side of a block bakes in the afternoon, how many hours of sun reach your floor past the neighbours, where the shade falls at street level — and what is around.
The sun over Singapore, right now
Shadows of the city as they fall at this minute — from the real height of every building. Use the sun bar on the map to pick any time or date.
Your home, in 3D
Type a block, street or postal code. We stand up every building around it, light it with the real sun and cast the shadows.
Which side gets the sun?
Hours of direct sun on a wall facing each way — morning and afternoon, on the date you pick and month by month.
Sun at your floor
Pick a storey. We trace the sun's rays past every real neighbour to see how many hours reach your windows, for each facing.
Sun and shade at street level
Every 16 m square around your spot, coloured by hours of direct sun today — where the shaded walks are, and where the pool deck bakes.
The sun through the year
Singapore sits 1° north of the equator: the noon sun swings from the north in June to the south in December. See the paths in 3D.
New launches by the sun
Every new launch with a 3D model, stack by stack: how many homes face the afternoon sun. Open any one for its own sun study.
What is around your spot
Schools within 1 and 2 km, HDB resale prices, condos, new launches, BTO projects and EV chargers.
Compare your places
Save the homes you are looking at. We compare their sun, shade and surroundings side by side.

* Homes-weighted average of the afternoon sun striking each home's main facing, year round, with an open sky (hours × the angle it strikes at). Lower is cooler. From each launch's 3D model; facings rounded to 8 points.
Good to know
Which facing is coolest in Singapore?
North and south. With an open sky a north-facing wall does see the sun for about 6.0 hours a day, but only at a grazing angle early and late — about 1.5 "full-sun hours" of heat in all. A west-facing wall takes about 3.7 full-sun hours in the afternoon alone, when the air is already hottest. East walls get the same strength in the cooler morning.
Is the sun in the north or the south?
Both. At noon on the 15th of Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep the sun is a little to the north; the rest of the year it is to the south. That is why a north-facing home gets some sun in June and a south-facing one in December.
How are the shadows worked out?
From the sun's position (the NOAA solar-position method, accurate to a fraction of a degree) and each building's footprint and height: real heights from OpenStreetMap and HDB's own storey counts where we have them, otherwise a typical height for that kind of building. Trees, awnings and terrain are not included.
Free · takes under a minute
Sun positions are calculated, not measured. Building heights come from OpenStreetMap and HDB where recorded and are estimated elsewhere; trees, balconies, awnings and the shape of the ground are not modelled, so real sun hours can be lower. New launch towers are drawn from developer site plans and facings are rounded to 8 points. A guide for comparing homes, not a survey. The classic sun compass
